Building Open Innovation in the National Mining Industry (MIND ID)

MIND ID initiated the BIGMIND Innovation Award 2022 & 2024 as an open innovation strategy to respond to the complexity and high-risk nature of the mining industry. Through this initiative, MIND ID created a structured platform for exploring ideas, identifying operational challenges, and encouraging innovation that is directly connected to real needs within the national mining ecosystem.

In collaboration with Innovesia, the program helped ensure that innovation efforts were not only conceptual, but also relevant, practical, and aligned with MIND ID’s strategic direction. By combining problem-driven innovation, cross-stakeholder collaboration, and structured evaluation, the BIGMIND Innovation Award strengthened the culture of innovation across the mining sector while supporting the development of solutions with stronger potential for implementation.
